The Oswego County Historical Society

Founded in 1896, the historical society has preserved and promoted the history of the greater Oswego area for more than 100 years.

In 1946, the Richardson-Bates House and 90% of its original contents, were donated to the Oswego County Historical Society by Norman Bates’ children to serve as the permanent headquarters for a public museum.

Since that time the society has owned and operated the magnificent Richardson-Bates House Museum.
